Montréal, March 13, 2011 – Since 2007, Golf Québec recognizes the work of a volunteers whose contribution, dedication, and passion have exceeded all expectations. At the occasion of its 90th Annual General Meeting to be held on March 13, 2011, at the Olympic Stadium, Golf Québec will honour Paul Schofield, the outgoing provincial Tournament Committee Chairman, and present him with the 2010 Volunteer of the Year Award.
A well-known jolly fellow, Paul was first introduced in the golf community as a great competitor. He also worked in the industry as a clothing line representative and, more recently, as a representative of agronomic services offered to golf clubs.
In 1999, Paul teamed up with Pierre Archambault to create a group of tournament players. This led him to sit on the Tournament Committee of Golf Québec in which he worked for 12 years; first as a Player Representative, then as Chairman. He also was a member of the Golf Québec Board of Directors in 2008 and 2009.
In 2010, Paul informed us that it was time for him to move on and bring in new blood once the golf season would be finished. Far from leaving quietly, he crowned his contribution to Golf Québec by offering us a great heritage: the creation of the new Jocelyne Bourassa Series.
For his constant dedication towards player development, tournament management, and the promotion of amateur golf in general, we would like to say: THANK YOU!
