Montréal, August 21, 2025 – The 30th edition of the Junior Match Play Championship was held from Monday to Wednesday at the Farnham Golf Club, where Gracelyn Xiao (Rivermead) won the girls' competition and Alexis Rouleau (Lanaudière) took top honors in the boys' competition. Both are members of the Québec team.

 

In the girls' final, Xiao defeated Florence Ho (Ottawa Hunt) 2-1 to be crowned champion of the event.

 

Early in the day, the eventual winner defeated Yi Nin Elaine Zeng (Parcours du Cerf), before beating Kate Guo (Pinegrove) and Zixuan Tan, from the Public Golfer Program, in quick succession to secure her place in the grand final.

 

In the boys' competition, Rouleau won 5-4 in the final against Lucas Cardozo (Le Blainvillier).

 

Alexis Rouleau had been perfect in four matches since the start of the week to secure his place in the final of the Junior Match Play Championship. He first defeated Ben Hamilton (Rideau View) 6-5 in the first round, before repeating the feat against Arnaud Langevin (Lanaudière) in the next round.

 

The winner of the competition continued his momentum by defeating Thomas Channevy (Beaconsfield) in the quarterfinals, then William Bellavance (Rivière-du-Loup) in the semifinals, to join Cardozo in the final match.

 

In the consolation tournaments, Adam Claveau (Lorette) won on the boys' side with a 3-2 victory in the final against Mathis Raymond (Pinegrove). On the girls' side, the victory went to Yi Nin Elaine Zeng, who defeated Lia Bouthillier (Vallée du Richelieu) in her final match.

 

Golf Québec staff will be back on the road this Saturday, August 23, for the first round of the Graham Cooke Junior Invitational at Golf Château-Bromont.
