Montréal, April 30, 2014 – The Québec Golf Federation (Golf Québec) was presented with the Sport Federation of the Year Award by Sports-Québec during the 41st edition of the Gala Sports-Québec held on Wednesday at the Sheraton Laval.

Golf Québec was a finalist in this category along with the Fédération de gymnastique du Québec and Plongeon Québec. For Golf Québec, this was a second consecutive nomination. Our Directors and employees are extremely proud of this recognition which showcases their accomplishments of the past five year to develop participation in the game of golf, and more specifically amongst children.

I especially delighted when I think of all our regional and provincial volunteers who are dedicating countless hours to deliver our programs, services, and top quality events that are living up to the expectations of all golf participants and our member-clubs”, mentioned Jean-Pierre Beaulieu, Executive Director.

Selected from the 238 candidacies submitted by sport federations, Golf Québec stood out in a group of 57 nominees who reached the final round of the Gala Sports-Québec. This selection was based on the quality of the nominees’ performances and accomplishments from January 1st to December 31, 2013. The phenomenal success of our Golf in Schools program at the elementary and high school levels, in the past year, growth of our Golfmobile, popularity of the Introduction to Competition Tours (ICT), and certification of three Junior Development Golf Centres (JDGC) surely contributed to our nomination.

I would also like to congratulate the athletes who were presented with a Maurice and other nominees”, added Marcel Paul Raymond, current President of the Federation.

The 2014 Gala Sports-Québec, coordinated by the SPORTSQUÉBEC Corporation, truly was a successful event. Held on a yearly basis, it supports and promotes sport excellence by celebrating the outstanding performances of athletes, federations, contributors, and federated sport events in the various prize categories.
