Montréal, September 24, 2025 – The Grand-Mère Golf Club hosted the Players of 40 Years Old and Over Championship, presented in collaboration with belairdirect, on September 22 and 23. Bringing together around 100 golfers, the event crowned Suzanne Ricard (Royal Montreal) and Philippe Dion (Thetford) as the women's and men's champions, respectively.

 

In the women's competition, Suzanne Ricard successfully defended her title, having also won in 2023. The Royal Montreal representative finished the tournament with a cumulative score of +12 (154), a performance that not only earned her top honours in the 40-and-over category but also but also led to her crowning in the senior division (50 and over).

 

In the overall competition ranking, she finished ahead of Eva Mazur (St-Raphaël), who came in second at +13 (155), while Amélie Belisle (Le Blainvillier) completed the podium at +17 (159).

 

On the men's side, the suspense lasted beyond the two scheduled rounds. Tied at +2 (144) with Hector Solis (Lachute) after 36 holes, Philippe Dion had to play extra holes to seal the outcome of the championship. The golfer from Thetford kept his cool to claim his first-ever victory in the 40-and-over category and take home the prestigious Pierre Archambault Trophy, awarded since 2008 in honour of one of the players who contributed to the creation of this event. Mr. Archambault is also a member of the Québec Golf Hall of Fame and was inducted into the builders’ category.

 

It should be noted that Danny Turbide (Cap-Rouge) finished third overall at +3 (145), a cumulative score that propelled him to the top among golfers aged 50 and over.

 

In 2025, Golf Québec is proud to count on the collaboration of belairdirect for the presentation of the Men's and Women's Provincial Tours. In addition, the Golf Québec volunteers, referees, and employees will be dressed by adidas throughout the golf season. Players will not be forgotten, as TaylorMade will supply them with the official TP5 and TP5X golf balls in the main provincial events.
