Québec Takes Second Place at the Williamson Cup

Montréal, August 6, 2025 – The four Québec golfers who competed in the Williamson Cup on Monday and Tuesday at Club Laval-sur-le-Lac helped the province finish second in the competition, thanks to the performances of Charly Pinel (Bellechasse), Mikaël Coupal (Vallée du Richelieu), and Hogan Blais (Camelot), accompanied by Phillip Bélanger (Cap-Rouge).
 
The top three scores from each team were used for the final standings, which were dominated by Ontarians Spencer Shropshire, Dawson Lew, and Luke Smith, who posted a final total of 435 (+9). Jordan Hwang was the fourth representative for the Golf Ontario team.
 
Among our representatives, Charly Pinel showed consistency throughout the two days of competition to take second place in the individual standings, posting par (71) in both rounds. Mikaël Coupal was in the lead after a first round of 70 (-1). He ultimately carded a second round of 77 to finish at 147 (+5).

Hogan Blais submitted the same final scorecard as Coupal, bringing the Golf Québec team total to 436 (+10), just one stroke behind Ontario.
 
Charlie Barrickman, Jack Homer, Sean Curran, and Luke Kleinschmidt of the Golf Association of Philadelphia tied for third place at 446 (+20), along with the Maryland State Golf Association foursome of Henry Tracy, George Williamson, Jackson Geyer, and Aidan Tudor.
 
In the individual competition, Spencer Shropshire made a spectacular comeback in the second round of the Williamson Cup. The Hawk Ridge Golf Club member was tied for fifth at 72 (+1) after 18 holes, but came back strong on Tuesday, shooting a 66 (-5) to win the individual competition.

This was the first edition of the Williamson Cup in Québec since 2014, which was also held at Club Laval-sur-le-Lac. At that time, Brandon Lacasse, Charles-Éric Bélanger, Félix Normand, and Éric Marshall led the Golf Québec team to victory.
