Provincial Mid-Amateur Championship - Get the complete results
Montréal, June 19, 2025 – Marie-Thérèse Torti (Vallée du Richelieu) and Corey Eccles (Royal Montreal) took the lead in the Provincial Mid-Amateur Championship presented in collaboration with belairdirect on the first day of the competition and never looked back. The two athletes were crowned on Wednesday at Windmill Heights Golf and Country Club in Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot.
By Monday, Marie-Thérèse Torti had built up a six-stroke lead over her closest rival in the provisional standings, before carrying on her momentum to win with a score of +13 (229), five strokes ahead of Suzanne Ricard (Royal Montreal).
This is Torti's sixth title in the Provincial Mid-Amateur Championship, having also triumphed in 2004, 2007, 2016, 2018, and 2023.
Gabrielle Davidson, who was fourth before the final round, managed to climb one spot to finish third at +23 (239).
Torti, Ricard, and Davidson will represent Québec at the BDO Canadian Women's Mid-Amateur Championship, to be held August 5-8 at the Lachute Golf Club.
The situation was very similar in the men's competition, where Corey Eccles played an excellent opening round of -4 (68) on Monday to take the lead in the Championship. He followed that up with a -2 (70) card the next day before maintaining his pace on the final day of play to confirm his victory at -5 (211) and defend the title he won last year.
Eccles was also crowned provincial mid-amateur champion in 2022.
Philippe Dion (Thetford) and Adam Girard Tremblay (Royal Québec) were able to card pars on Wednesday, moving up one spot in the final standings to finish second and third, respectively.
Dion finished at -3 (213), thanks in part to a round of -2 (70) early in the tournament, while Girard Tremblay played well on Tuesday, the second day, with a score of -3 (69), to finish the competition at -1 (215).
By finishing in the top three, Eccles, Dion, and Girard Tremblay secured their spots in the BDO Canadian Mid-Amateur Championship, which will take place August 18–22 at Seymour Golf & Country Club in Vancouver, British Columbia. They will form the Québec team for the inter-provincial competition, which will be played in the first two rounds of the event.
The coming weeks will be especially busy for Golf Québec staff, who will first head to the Camelot Golf & Country Club in Ottawa for the Alexander of Tunis on June 23 and 24. The Debbie Savoy Morel Cup at the Mirage Golf Club will follow in the days after.
