Montréal, June 3, 2025 – Club de golf Heriot was the scene of exciting matches during the 42nd edition of the Men's Provincial Match Play Championship, presented in collaboration with belairdirect, which took place from June 1 to 3 in Drummondville.

 

Guillaume Paquette (Pinegrove) was crowned champion of the amateur division, defeating Adam Girard Tremblay (Royal Québec) 2 and 1 in Tuesday morning's grand final. Both golfers had won four straight matches to reach the hard-fought final.

 

In the senior division, Sylvain Harvey (Alpin) claimed the prestigious title with a victory over defending champion Luc Guilbault (public golfer). Guilbault conceded defeat 3 and 2 to the new title holder.

 

The 2025 Men's Provincial Stroke Play Championship brought together 32 amateur golfers and 16 senior golfers. All began the competition on Sunday with the goal of winning top honours, but those who suffered defeat in the first round were given a second chance in the consolation brackets, ensuring a minimum of two rounds for each participant.

 

In the consolation rounds, Loïc Simard (Vallée du Richelieu) defeated Francis Savard (Vallée du Richelieu) 6 and 4 in the amateur division, while Michel Gariépy (Boisés de Joly) took the senior title with a 2 and 1 victory over Jean Roux (public golfer).

 

Golf Québec will continue its competitive season of the summer in the coming weeks with the Indigenous Championship on June 9 at the Cornwall Golf and Country Club, as well as the Provincial Mid-Amateur Championship, which will be held on June 16-18 at the Windmill Heights Golf and Country Club.

 

In 2025, Golf Québec is proud to count on the collaboration of belairdirect for the presentation of the Men's and Women's Provincial Tours.
