François Gagnon, 2024 President of Golf Québec
Montréal, February 24, 2024 – The Québec Golf Federation (Golf Québec) is proud to announce that at its 104th Annual General Meeting held on Saturday, February 24, François Gagnon was elected President for 2024.
Mr. Gagnon holds a bachelor's degree in business administration with specialization in finance, an MBA, a law degree, and he was admitted to the Bar in 1980. After a few years in the banking sector (Scotia and BMO), he joined the Québec Ministry of Finance, where he was Assistant Deputy Minister from 1988 to 1995. He then moved to Desjardins Group, where he held the positions of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and President of Desjardins Trust, before retiring in 2014.
A member of Parcours du Cerf, he joined the Golf Québec Board of Directors between 2013 and 2015, where he served as Secretary-Treasurer and sat on the Rules Committee. He then took a short break before rejoining the Board, in 2020, and held the Vice-Presidency since 2022.
As part of his volunteer involvement, he currently sits on various provincial committees, including the Governance and Ethics Committee, the Strategic Planning Committee, which he chairs, and the Finance and Audit Committee. He has also been a national-level referee for some fifteen years. He was a member of Golf Canada's Board of Governors and Rules Committee from 2014 to 2016. He was also a member of the Country Club of Montréal for twenty years, where he sat on various committees and was President in 2012 and 2013.
"I am honoured to have been chosen as President of Golf Québec, a dynamic and future-oriented organization that can count on competent employees and volunteers dedicated to the promotion and development of golf in the province. I would like to highlight the exemplary commitment of my predecessor, Louise Patry, who served on the Board of Directors for seven years," said François Gagnon.
In 2024, in addition to Mr. Gagnon, the Board of Directors will be made up of:
- Gisèle Carpentier (Vice-President), individual member in good standing of a member club, Golf Le Mirage
- Ève Gaudet (Secretary), appointed by the Association des clubs de golf du Québec (ACGQ), Montcalm
- Michel Dell’Aniello (Treasurer), individual member in good standing of a member club, Vallée du Richelieu
- Olivier Daneau, individual member in good standing of a member club, Vallée du Richelieu
- Nadia Di Menna, appointed by the National Golf Club Owners Association - Québec Chapter, Le Versant
- Serge Lafontaine, appointed by the Regional Association Council (RAC), Royal Ottawa
- Marie-Pier Poulin-Breton, individual member in good standing of a member club, La Tempête
- Paul Schofield, individual member in good standing of a member club, Boucherville
- David Tremblay, appointed by the PGA of Canada, Québec Zone
