Ottawa defends its title in style
Cornwall, August 27, 2022 – The Ottawa region has had great success in recent editions of the Inter-Regional Championship. After two cancellations of the event due to the pandemic, Ottawa athletes arrived at the Cornwall Golf and Country Club with the knife between their teeth and won the honours in the competition.
Isaiah Ibit (Camelot Golf & Country Club) and Graydon Laughlin (Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club) led the way for their region, not only winning the 18-hole Vegas Stableford Boys' competition, but also taking home the trophy for the Junior Skills Challenge in their category.
In the Bantam Boys event, Chase Jerome (Royal Ottawa) and Hogan Blais (Camelot Golf & Country Club) were also able to win the 18-hole event with a score of 62, giving valuable points to the Ottawa region. Jerome and Blais tied for first with Frédéric Bergeron and Emeric Allaire (Ki-8-Eb) representing the Mauricie region.
Also from the Ottawa region, Sophie Foulds (Royal Ottawa) and Shinyao Zhang (Rivermead) for the Girls and Karson Hurlbert (Camelot Golf & Country Club) and Owen Copp (Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club) for the Peewee Boys finished the 18-hole event in second place in their respective categories.
Justine Emond and Charlotte Boudreau are champions again
Representing the Montréal North region, Justine Emond (Le Blainvillier) continued her winning ways of the past few weeks by winning a third trophy in two weeks, this time with teammate Sofia De Zordo (Balmoral). Emond and De Zordo finished the round with a total of 60 points.
Montréal North also took top honours in the Peewee Boys competition with Zack Bourgeois (Le Blainvillier) and Zackary Vincent (Glendale) winning with 61 points in the 18-hole event.
In the morning, during the Junior Skills Challenge, Charlotte Boudreau (Island of Montréal) was also able to taste victory for the second time in a week by winning in a convincing manner with her teammate Amélia Tziortzis (Elm Ridge). They represented Montréal South.
In the Juvenile Boys category, Ottawa's Ibit and Laughlin were joined on the top of the podium by Vincent Jr Laperrière (Drummondville) and Félix Cloutier (Venise), the Eastern Townships' flag bearers.
Finally, Charly Pinel (Royal Québec) and Phillip Bélanger (Cap-Rouge) from the Québec City region as well as Lucas Simoneau (Louiseville) and Tristan Martel (Golf Canada ClubHouse) from the Mauricie region took top honours in the Bantam and Peewee categories respectively.
The Golf Québec team will now turn its attention to the first round of the college circuit which will be played in Milby on August 29 and 30. The second stop will be at Ki-8-Eb on September 19 and 20.
