St. John’s, August 22, 2025 – Québec golf shined at the Bally Haly Golf & Country Club during the 2025 Canada Games. After four rounds played in often difficult conditions, Léonie Tavares (Saint-Raphaël) took gold in the women's competition, while Québec won silver in the team competition.

From the very first round, the Québec foursome showed their colors. Léonie Tavares quickly established herself at the top of the women's standings, while her teammates Zack Bourgeois (Le Blainvillier) and Mikaël Coupal (Vallée du Richelieu) were among the leaders in the men's competition. Québec was then at the top of the team rankings.

Despite unpredictable weather during the second round, Tavares managed to come out on top. With a score of 76, she took sole possession of the lead in the provisional standings. Meanwhile, Sofia De Zordo (Balmoral) moved up toward the top 10, while Coupal and Bourgeois remained in contention among the boys.

The third round confirmed the emergence of the golfer from Saint-Raphaël Golf Club. Thanks to a brilliant 72, she built up an almost insurmountable 11-stroke lead going into the final round. De Zordo fought hard to hold on to a place in the top 15, while Coupal and Bourgeois continued their battle in the men's field.

In the final round, Tavares handled the pressure well. Building on her lead, she finished with a round of 77 and a total of 299 (+11), securing the gold medal and her first Canada Games title at just 15 years old. Sofia De Zordo posted her best score of the week (78) to finish in ninth place.

Among the boys, Mikaël Coupal finished strong with an excellent score of 73, coming close to the podium with a fourth-place finish (+16). Zack Bourgeois finished the tournament in 11th place (+28).

Thanks to the combined performances of its athletes, Québec climbed to second place in the team rankings, winning a valuable silver medal with a total of 601 strokes.
