Montréal, July 21, 2025 – The 108th Men's Provincial Amateur Championship, presented in collaboration with belairdirect, was the stage for a decisive playoff last Friday at the Elm Ridge Country Club. Émile Lebrun of Club Laval-sur-le-Lac emerged victorious in this third stage of the Men's Triple Crown.

 

By his own admission, Lebrun had his “worst back nine ever” on Friday during the fourth and final round of the tournament. However, a birdie on the 18th hole brought his cumulative score to 278 (-10) and led him to a playoff against Félix Bouchard (Vallée du Richelieu) and Guillaume Paquette (Pinegrove). He came out on top and was able to lift the Outremont trophy.

 

“I feel very comfortable in a playoff; I’ve won every playoff in my life!” said Émile Lebrun, proud of his victory. He carded rounds of 69 (-3), 65 (-7), and 71 (-1) in the first three rounds, then finished the last round at +1 (73). “It's been a long time since I won a tournament! It was starting to annoy me. I was leading my tournaments, but I always ended up finishing badly. It feels good to win!”

 

Among the members of the Québec team, Thomas Grenier (Thetford) made the top 10, finishing tied for seventh at -6 (282).

 

Thanks to their rankings in the Triple Crown Order of Merit, which combines performances at the Alexander of Tunis, the Duke of Kent and the Men's Provincial Amateur Championship, Émile Lebrun and Thomas Grenier will be part of the provincial team representing Golf Québec at the Canadian Men's Amateur Championship.

 

They will be joined by Antoine Jasmin (Blainvillier) who, due to his place on Team Canada NextGen, was automatically exempt to represent Golf Québec. The national championship will be held from July 28 to 31, 2025, at the Royal Ottawa Golf Club and Rivermead Golf Club in Gatineau, with the inter-provincial competition taking place during the first two rounds.

 

Golf Québec staff are now at Club de golf de la Vallée du Richelieu, where the Bantam, Pee-Wee, and Mosquito Championship is being held July 21–22.

 

In 2025, Golf Québec is proud to count on the collaboration of belairdirect for the presentation of the Men's and Women's Provincial Tours. In addition, the Golf Québec volunteers, referees, and employees will be dressed by adidas throughout the golf season.
