Montréal, July 17, 2025 – From July 14 to 16, Le Champêtre Golf Club hosted the 100th Women's Provincial Amateur Championship and the 57th edition of the Senior Division as part of the Women's Provincial Amateur and Senior Championship presented in collaboration with belairdirect. This milestone event on the Golf Québec women's calendar brought together some 60 golfers in four categories.
In the amateur division, Anne-Léa Lavoie (Royal Québec) defeated Mackenzie Cloutier (Québec team/Le Blainvillier) in a decisive playoff. The two golfers finished the three rounds tied at +1 (217), forcing a tiebreaker on the 18th hole, considered the most difficult on the course, to crown the champion. In the end, it was Lavoie who sealed the victory in this thrilling final.
“This is a very emotional victory for me! It means a lot because I've worked really hard over the last few weeks. I've made a lot of progress and I'm proud of this victory,” said Anne-Léa Lavoie, who also won the amateur titles at the 2024 and 2025 Debbie Savoy Morel Cup.
Four other athletes from the Québec team finished in the top 10 in this category. Justine Émond (Le Blainvillier) finished third at +3 (219), followed by Alexandra Botsis (Rosemère Fontainebleau), tied for fourth place at +5 (221). Sofia De Zordo (Balmoral) finished tied for sixth at +10 (226), while Shinyao Zhang (Rivermead) rounded out the top 10 tied at +17 (233).
In the senior division, Hélène Chartrand (Summerlea) won with a cumulative score of +13 (229). She finished ahead of Suzanne Ricard (Royal Montréal) at +15 (231), while Marie-Thérèse Torti (Vallée du Richelieu) took third place with a score of +17. (233).
“It took me ten years to win another provincial championship! I worked very hard, and this is the first time in my career that I've won two tournaments in the same season. At my age, it's a bit of a surprise, but I'm very proud!" said the player, who also won the Debbie Savoy Morel Cup in the senior division a few weeks ago.
In the participation categories, played under the Stableford format, Marie-Pier Desroches (Montcalm) won the amateur division with a total of 87 points, while Josée Bellefleur (Montcalm) dominated the senior division with 82 points.
Two athletes were also recognized for their exemplary attitude on the field: Shinyao Zhang (Rivermead) and France St-Jean (Rosemère Fontainebleau) received the Nancy Walker Sportsmanship Award, a distinction presented by their peers to highlight their respect, courtesy, and sportsmanship.
This championship also contributed to the accumulation of points for the Jocelyne Bourassa Series Order of Merit, which is used to determine the selection of Golf Québec's provincial women's teams.
Anne-Léa Lavoie, Mackenzie Cloutier, and Justine Emond will compose the team representing Québec in the inter-provincial competition at the Canadian Women's Amateur Championship, held at the Riverside Country Club in New Brunswick from July 22 to 25, 2025.
