Québec Summer Games – Get the complete results

Laval, July 29, 2022 – There was a lot of action at the 55th Québec Games Finals presented this week in Laval. No less than 80 golfers from all over the province competed on the greens of the Saint-François Golf Club from Wednesday to Friday. Some of these athletes managed to mount three podiums on as many occasions. To finish on a high note, the Centre-du-Québec region saw its sportsmanship recognised by its peers by being awarded a prize.

Summary of the last two days.

Thursday - Two-Person Vegas

After the "Two Balls, Best Balls" event on Wednesday, the pairs from the different regions were back on the course on Thursday for the two-person Vegas competition.

Winner of the Assante Optimiste Classic and the Pee-Wee and Bantam Classic this spring, Charly Pinel teamed up with Philip Bélanger to win gold in the Bantam category (13-14 years old). The Capitale-Nationale duo, who had received a bronze medal the day before, accumulated 76 points. Pinel and Bélanger finished ahead of Adam Gauthier and Guillaume Desmarais of Centre-du-Québec, who scored 74 points. A tie occurred to complete the podium. Noah Fecteau and Raphaël Poulin of Chaudière-Appalaches finished the tournament with 71 points, as did Jimmy Galbraith and Samuel Bourget of the Laurentians, Wednesday's gold medalists.

In the girls' category (13-17 years old), the Laurentians' representatives Rose Morisset and Sofia De Zordo won thanks to their 76 points. This is their second medal at the 55th Québec Games Finals after winning bronze on Wednesday. Élizabeth Dufresne and Seanna Wang, from the South Shore delegation, won the silver medal with 72 points. Louanne Aubin and Mercedes St-Onge from Côte-Nord also added to their medal collection in Laval. Gold medallists on Wednesday, they climbed on the third step of the podium this time with 68 points.

Finally, Richelieu-Yamaska golfers Charles Authier and Émile Cauchon triumphed in the juvenile division (15-16 years). The pair, who had won a silver medal in the opening round, climbed one step on the podium. Their total of 76 points allowed them to win against Justin Gingras and Thomas Grenier (74 points), from Chaudière-Appalaches. Loïc Marcouiller and Loïc Simard (Rive-Sud) were third (71 points), alongside Léo Beaudoin Labrecque and Vincent Laperrière, from Centre-du-Québec. This is a second bronze medal for the Labrecque-Laperrière team.

Friday - Stroke Play

The 55th Québec Games Finals concluded on Friday in golf, where four other champions were crowned in their respective categories.

Already double medallists in twosomes since the beginning of the competition, Charly Pinel and Philip Bélanger added to their tally on Friday, but as individuals. Pinel took the gold medal by outscoring his teammate by a single point, 76 to 75. Zachary Lauzon (Rive-Sud) finished a close third with 74 points.

In the boys 15-16 age group, Thomas Lemay won this final event. The Mauricie athlete finished with 76 points, while Félix Cloutier, from the Eastern Townships, accumulated 75. Léo Beaudoin Lévesque, who already had two bronze medals on his record, added a third one with 74 points.

Sportmanship Award: Centre-du-Québec and Adam Gauthier (centre)

At the end of three days of fierce competition, the coaches of each delegation voted for the team that showed the best sportsmanship throughout the week. In the end, it was the golfers from Centre-du-Québec who were collectively rewarded. An individual prize was then awarded among this group and Adam Gauthier was the overall winner.

Golf Québec will now turn its attention to the Bantam, Pee-Wee and Mosquito Championship, which will be held on August 1 and 2 in Drummondville. At the same time, the Québec Open will begin at Club de golf Le Blainvillier and will run until August 7.
