Team Québec unveiled for the 2022 Canada Games

Montréal, June 15, 2022 – This year, the Canada Games are making a much-anticipated return to the sporting scene. This high-calibre junior event will be held at the Battlefield Course at Legends on the Niagara Golf Club, August 17-20, in Ontario.

For the occasion, the Québec team will proudly defend the titles won in Winnipeg during the last edition of the Games, in 2017. Our young athletes won all the gold medals in the individual and team competitions for both girls and boys.

The selection of the 2022 Québec team was divided into two phases.

First, an order of merit, with points based on performances recorded in two events held in May, the Assante Optimiste Classic and the CJGA Québec Junior Open, was used to invite the best participants to a final selection camp.

Held on June 11 and 12 at Club Laval-sur-le-Lac, the camp allowed six girls and thirteen boys to meet the coaches who will accompany the team to Niagara and to compete in two qualifying rounds.

In the girls' event, Anne-Léa Lavoie (Lorette/Team Canada/16) will join our rising star, Léonie Tavares (Glendale) who, at the age of 11, could very well be the youngest athlete ever to represent Québec at the Canada Games.

In the boys' division, Malik Dao (Summerlea/Team Canada/17) and Guillaume Paquette (Le Blainvillier/17) will complete our delegation. Malik will be looking to follow in his sister Celeste's footsteps as she won the individual and team gold medals in 2017.
