Close to $80,000 to support junior golf programs in Québec
Montréal, October 8, 2019 – This Monday, the prestigious Golf Le Mirage was host to the 13th edition of the Golf Québec annual Fundraiser Tournament presented by Daigneau, Eau de source. Over 150 golf enthusiasts were in Terrebonne for this event in which close to $80,000 was collected to be reinvested in the various junior golf programs offered in Québec.
To say the least, the numerous participants had a lot of fun during this splendid activity day for which Mrs. Debbie Savoy Morel, renowned Golf Professional and Ambassador of Golf Le Mirage, and Mrs. Diane Rioux, President of Daigneau, Eau de source, were Co-Honorary Presidents.
Besides competing in a friendly Vegas-format tournament composed of the Kinatex and belairdirect teams, attending golfers also had the chance to measure up to seven young athletes who were representing the talented junior golfers of the province. They were Marie-Ève Pilon, Émile Lebrun, Laurence Lamer, Audrey Paradis, Lory Paradis, Malik Dao, and Hugo Denis. In addition, participants had the opportunity to bid on exciting items in the silent and live auctions; two activities that significantly contributed to the total collection of the fundraiser.
“The event was an absolute success and the ambiance simply was electrifying! People came from every corner of the province to play in the Fundraiser Tournament and support our young Québec hopefuls. With the help of these generous contributors, close to $80,000 will be invested in our junior programs next year,” proudly announced Jean-Pierre Beaulieu, Golf Québec Executive Director.
and thank them for their participation and contribution.
The Professional of Golf Le Mirage also took this opportunity to express how important this tournament is to her, both personally and professionally.
“I feel like I am actually giving back to the next generation! When I was young, some people believed in me and their support was instrumental to the amazing golf career that I was able to enjoy. It is also very important for Golf Le Mirage to encourage our Federation and young hopefuls. Since the club started its operations, we have always strived to support the young Québec golfers, girls and boys, in order to help them grow in their sport. Altogether, it truly is an honour to contribute to this great cause by hosting this event.”
Once again, this year, the Fundraiser Tournament concluded an exceptional season on the greens for Golf Québec and its young athletes who stood out of the crowd at every level. “In 13 years, we have collected close to $900,000. We thank you and encourage you to keep on participating and supporting the development of our future golf stars,” concluded Mr. Beaulieu.
“My Golf, My Community, and I” fundraiser campaign
Through the years, this event has become a fall tradition in which numerous participants celebrate the key initiatives that had positive impact on the golf season that is coming to an end. They also enjoy the opportunity to meet with athletes-golfers that are the rising stars of our golf communities.
The Fundraiser Tournament is one of the initiatives comprised in the global provincial fundraiser campaign which is adopting a new image this year under the theme “My Golf, My Community, and I”.
With the same global objective of supporting the development of golf participation, smiling children faces will invite you to contribute to the cause and help them discover the game in their community. Every year, collected funds are used to support golf discovery initiatives such as Golf in Schools, the Future Links Field Trips and in-school visits with golf professionals. The First Drive Tour implemented in every region for children of 7 to 12 years old as well as the Regional Junior Tours (RJT) are also top priorities. More than ever, this theme expresses the motivations stimulating and directing our actions aiming to introduce more children to golf and facilitate the development of the game in our respective communities.
With the help of our numerous participants, donors, and partners, close to $900,000 was collected through the thirteen editions of the Fundraiser Tournament. This is the perfect opportunity to support the Federation, regional golf associations, and golf clubs to help them pursue their mandates. Aside from activities leading to their introduction to golf in their daily environment, we also need to facilitate the transition of children to help them discover the game in their communities and golf facilities.
The impact of a donation
