Brandon Lacasse Wins the Spring Open

Montréal, May 27, 2025 (Sportcom) – Brandon Lacasse (Le Blainvillier) experienced a rollercoaster of emotions on Monday during the Spring Open presented in collaboration with belairdirect at the Beaconsfield Golf Club. He managed to secure the victory with a score of -7 (64), just one stroke shy of the tournament record held since 2005 by Hugo Chamberland Lauzon.
The day before, Lacasse was in Bogota, Colombia, where he participated in the Inter Rapidisimo Golf Championship, a PGA Tour Americas tournament. Back in Québec in the early hours of Monday morning, he found out that his golf bag had not made the trip with him and tried everything he could to get some clubs so he could participate in the provincial event.
His father was finally able to retrieve his clubs and give them back to him about fifteen minutes before the start of the Open. The rest is history.
The 27-year-old golfer started the day strong with birdies on the second and third holes. He maintained his momentum throughout the round, finishing with a bang thanks to his fifth birdie on the 18th hole.
“The Spring Open is a competition that everyone in Québec wants to win. I'm really happy. I didn't really have any expectations, I was tired from travelling, but I was able to stay calm while waiting for my clubs. I'm pretty proud of myself,” said Brandon Lacasse after his victory.
Sonny Michaud (La Tempête) finished second among the professionals with a score of -5 (66).
Christopher Vandette (Beaconsfield), Olivier Ménard (Summerlea), and James Colin Davis (Griffon des Sources) tied for third place at -3 (68).
In the amateur division, Théo Desroches (Le Blainvillier) took the lead with a score of -5 (66). The 19-year-old athlete was playing par at midday but was able to turn things around on the last nine holes, where he carded five birdies. He finished tied for second place overall.
Loïc Simard (Vallée du Richelieu) took second place among amateurs at -4 (67), while Clément Lépine (Club Laval-sur-le-Lac) finished the day in third place with a score of -2 (69).
Charly Pinel (Bellechasse), Charles-Edmond Proulx (Vallée du Richelieu), Mikael Coupal (Vallée du Richelieu), Zach Pageau (Vallée du Richelieu), Thomas Grenier (Thetford), and Oscar Ricketts (Beaconsfield), all members of the Québec team, also participated in the Spring Open.
Golf Québec staff will be back on the course this Saturday for the first round of the Assante Optimiste Classic, which will be played at the Glendale Golf Club in Mirabel.
