Montréal-Sud Wins the Inter-Regional Championship

Montréal, September 10, 2024 – The 12th Inter-Regional Championship, a junior invitational competition, took place on Sunday at Club de Golf Venise on the Magog course.
The day was divided into two competitions with cumulative scores. In the morning, the young athletes had to take part in a Junior Skills Challenge to earn points for their region in putting and driving events.
The Mauricie team took top honours in the juvenile boys’ group, with Charles Cloutier and Xavier Bernier scoring 10 points. Jacob Normandeau and Luca Zhao in the bantam division as well as Adam Lauzon and Zhichen Liu in the pee-wee division scored 20 points for the Montréal-Sud region. In the girls' category, Lorie Rosa and Carry Chen collected 10 points for the Montréal-Nord region.
The afternoon was devoted to a round of 18 holes played in two-man Vegas in the Stableford format.
In the boys' juvenile division, Zach Leclerc and Matix St-Onge picked up the 10 points for first place on behalf of the Québec City team. In the bantam division, Théo Ducharme and Justin Tremblay from the Eastern Townships tied with Zachary Lavoie and Lucas Simoneau from the Mauricie region. Both teams earned 10 points for their respective regions. The same situation was repeated in the pee-wee category, with Adam Lauzon and Zhichen Liu receiving the 10 points allocated to them in first place, tied with Jack Sample and Zander Zhang from Ottawa. In the girls' category, it was once again Lorie Rosa and Carry Chen who added 10 points to their region's record.
In the end, it was the players from the Montréal-Sud region who accumulated the most points throughout the day. They ended the reign of the Ottawa region, which was defending its 2023 title with a sixth Inter-Regional victory at the event.
