Tribute to Patrick Rhéaume at the Fundraiser Tournament

Montréal, June 6, 2023 – Join in the celebrations on September 18 when Golf Québec presents the 16th edition of its Fundraiser Tournament at the prestigious Royal Québec Golf Club. Our friend and former colleague at Golf Canada, Patrick Rhéaume, will be honoured at the event.

This fundraising event, previously held in the Greater Montréal area, is changing its format. From now on, Golf Québec will travel to other regions each year to meet the golfing community and golf clubs. The initiative will highlight a regional cause as well as regional junior golf initiatives. At this season's event, some exciting news will be announced about the Patrick Rhéaume Fund and support for the Québec City Regional Golf Association's junior initiatives.

The Fundraiser Tournament is part of the "My Golf, My Community, and I" fundraising campaign, which aims to help children and families discover golf and begin playing it. As part of this campaign, Golf Québec is promoting its programs: First Tee - Premier départ Québec, training for community coaches, and the Golf-études program. The funds raised each year support the continuation of these activities and regional initiatives.

PATRICK RHÉAUME FUND

After 31 years of dedicated work in the golf industry, Patrick Rhéaume was recently diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). Following this news, Patrick was determined to leave a heritage to the golf community. Having been involved as a coaching professional for many years, as a tournament organizer, and as Golf Canada's Regional Director for Québec, he wanted to be able to offer a legacy to the young golfers of Québec.

So Patrick and his circle of friends set up the Pat Rhéaume Fund. The aim of this fund is to support athletes whose commitment to their sport reaches a remarkable level and is on a par with Patrick's commitment to everything he has done for the industry. Six bursaries of $2,500 will be awarded annually to Québec golfers at the regional, provincial, and national levels.

During the Fundraiser Tournament, a number of former athletes-golfers will pay tribute to Patrick. A silent auction will also be held to boost the contributions collected over the course of the season.

The community is invited to make a donation to the Patrick Rhéaume Fund at the following link: https://www.jedonneenligne.org/sportsquebec/FSFQGOLFPRHEAUME/?lng=1.
