$75,000 distributed to 32 students-golfers

The Foundation for Athletic Excellence and Golf Québec
distribute $75,000 to 32 students-golfers

Montréal, November 18, 2020 – The 7th edition of the Golf Québec/Foundation for Athletic Excellence (FAEQ) Bursary Program will be bringing a little sunshine into the gloomy atmosphere for 32 students-athletes when $75,000 in individual bursaries ranging from $2,000 to $4,000 will be awarded to them live on the Facebook pages of the two organizations at 5 p.m.

The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly disrupted habits and ways of doing things, including among students-athletes, who are doubly affected in their academic and sporting lives. The FAEQ and Golf Québec are all the more pleased to be able to encourage, coach and financially support 32 of the most promising golfers in order to keep them motivated to pursue their academic careers and their next golfing season.

Quotes:

“The academic and sporting results obtained by the students-golfers supported by the Foundation and Golf Québec in recent years prove the relevance of the program. More than ever, in these difficult times, students-athletes need encouragement. I am particularly proud of the commitment we are making to them today, to help them persevere in school and in their sport.”

- Claude Chagnon, President of the Foundation for Athletic Excellence

“Golf Québec and the FAEQ continue to work together to provide guidance and support to the scholarship recipients. The last six years have allowed us to increase our understanding of the needs of students-athletes in golf and thus promote their development both on the course and in the classroom. The Foundation promotes a global approach to these young people, who must demonstrate a noteworthy attitude and behaviour in the practice of golf and in their daily lives. As for Golf Québec, with the involvement of its coaches, it has a better understanding of the aptitudes they need to develop and the sports coaching that will stimulate their development. Together, we promote the development of young people in order for them to become active members of our society. Obviously, the success of this program would be impossible without the financial support of generous contributors. I thank them for their loyalty.”

- Jean-Pierre Beaulieu, directeur général de Golf Québec

The FAEQ/Golf Québec Bursary Program was launched in 2014 as a result of the two organizations shared objective of providing financial support to young student golfers while also encouraging them to focus on their academic pursuits.

Five contributors were involved in this year’s program: Claude Chagnon, Fednav, F. Furst Entreprises LTD, Fondation Roland-Beaulieu, and Peacock Family Foundation.

In addition, a portion of the profits from the 808 Bonneville Challenge is used to finance the Golf Québec/FAEQ Scholarship Program. For the 2020 edition, the amount is $25,000.
