The Foundation for Athletic Excellence Distributes $81,000 in bursaries to

Sainte-Julie, November 13, 2019 – The Foundation for Athletic Excellence (FAEQ) and Golf Québec revealed the names of the 30 bursary recipients who were awarded a total of $81,000 in individual bursaries, worth $2,000 or $4,000 each, during the sixth edition of the FAEQ/Golf Québec Bursary Program.

Bursaries in the categories of Academic Excellence and Academic and Athletic Support were awarded to Quebec’s top 13- to 17-year-old golfers during the ceremony, which took place at the Club de golf de La Vallée du Richelieu.

Quotes:

“The first five years of the Golf Québec / FAEQ Scholarship Program have demonstrated beyond a doubt the great relevance of this support to the best golf students. The success of the latter, both academically and athletically, is an encouragement to continue and even improve the program. In fact, we are particularly proud to be able to help more student athletes and give them more money alongside Golf Québec once again this year.”
- Claude Chagnon, President of the Fondation de l’athlète d’excellence

“The first five-year cycle of this scholarship program was truly a success in every respect. Together, the FAEQ and Golf Québec have demonstrated the relevance and importance of the financial support offered to the many athletes since its inception. The impact was immediate for the young recipients, both on the courses and on the school benches. Their performances on the provincial, national and even international scenes are impressive. That is why we are committed to another five-year cycle. The majority of donors reiterated their financial support, clearly demonstrating their satisfaction and appreciation. This, combined with the contribution of the 808 Bonneville Challenge, allows us to increase the scholarship envelope from $73,000 to $81,000 annually and, consequently, to offer scholarships to more athletes.
- Jean-Pierre Beaulieu, Executive Director of Golf Québec

The FAEQ/Golf Québec Bursary Program was launched in 2014 as a result of the two organizations shared objective of providing financial support to young student golfers while also encouraging them to focus on their academic pursuits.

The FAEQ is also pleased to announce that several donors have agreed to renew their contributions for the next five years. They include: Claude Chagnon, Fednav, F. Furst Entreprises LTD, Fondation Roland Beaulieu, Groupe Park Avenue, Peacock Family Foundation, and Raymond Royer.

In addition, a portion of the profits from the 2019 Bonneville 808 Challenge will be used to finance the Golf Québec / FAEQ Scholarship Program. The Foundation's fundraising cycling event allows it to pursue its mission to support student athletes in Québec through its scholarship programs and support services.
