ABOUT THE CN FUTURE LINKS GIRLS CLUB

The CN Future Links Girls’ Club (GC) is a developmental golf program essentially designed for girls 7-18 years of age. As members, young girls will develop the skills, attitudes and positive images of themselves as athletes on the golf course, encouraging both self-esteem and a life-long love of the game.

The Girls’ Club was developed to address the huge discrepancy between the numbers of young girls playing golf compared to the number of young boys. It aims not merely to attract girls to the game but also to help retain them longer.

The Girl Guides of Canada is a proud partner of the CN Future Links Girls’ Club program. To learn more about the program please contact Michèle Raymond at mraymond@golfquebec.org or 514-633-1088 extension 30.

WHAT IS THE CN FUTURE LINKS GIRLS' CLUB PROGRAM?

The CN Future Links Girls’ Club program is based on the premise that we can encourage more young girls to experience all of the positive aspects of the game of golf has to offer through the delivery of fun golf activities and learning environments in a “girls only” setting. Not all girls are motivated by competition. Some don't like it and others might like it if they felt more prepared. The Girls’ Club focuses on introducing girls to social competition, learning how to compete and develop friendships. Many will be happy to remain playing at this level while others will progress to compete on a tougher scale. The important point is the Girls’ Club program offers that choice.

Activities are provided for various levels with players being encouraged to improve and progress. Clubs meet regularly - usually once or twice a month and events range from clinics to play days and fun days.

Main Features of the Program:

  • Ability to deliver a program with limited environmental resources – you don’t need to have access to a golf course to get started.
  • The program is well resourced with equipment, instructional aids and activities.
  • A safe fulfilling introduction to golf.
  • Suitable for ages 7-18.
  • Recognizes skill improvement.
  • Girls will have the opportunity to learn to play golf, meet other girls their own age and experience competition in a non-threatening environment.
  • Girls are more likely to register in a golf program that is for girls only, than a program that is open to both genders.
