Opening of golf courses in Québec
Montréal, May 13, 2020 – The Government of Québec, through the Minister for Education and Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, Isabelle Charest, has just authorized the opening of golf courses as of May 20 for all golf courses in Québec. This announcement is enthusiastically welcomed by all golf industry stakeholders.
The Québec golf industry Standing Committee has produced and submitted a course opening guide to the Public Health Department in the past few weeks. This protocol, which respects the health and safety of clients and employees, has also been approved by the PHD. All golf facilities in Québec have received this protocol and are already working towards implementing the proper measures to welcome golfers. These guidelines are at the heart of the clubs' concerns and operations.
In this deconfinement process that is gradually taking place throughout the province, golf courses will be happy to make their playing areas accessible to their clientele. The practice of golf is filled with benefits for both mental and physical health. After this multiple-week period of confinement, the population needs to start being active again. The cooperation of golfers will be essential in order to respect the measures that will be put in place. It will be important to demonstrate that, together, we are a collectively and individually responsible industry.
Returning to the game of golf will also contribute favourably to another of the government's objectives, which is to get workers back to work and help the local economy recover.
